LIfe is what you make it

Hello everyone,

Yes it has been a good day, cleaning a house for three hours and having a chat with the owner as it is a wet day (the rain is lovely and much needed) and her children are recovering from colds. We were saying how there is too much violence on TV, even the word "shit" is over used and yesterday while pruing my roses I had gentle words with two boys using the F word.

And yes life is what you make it, not what just happens, you make it happen. I am beginning to understand this more and more especially in regard to how you react as your day progresses to things that are said or done in your presence.

I reckon we can learn a lot from our feline friends, I know you understand what I mean.

I think, after spending the first 3+ decades of my life (before all the upheaval) trying to "make" my life, that the only things we really have absolute control over are our actions and reactions. We can do our best to achieve our dreams, but sometimes--often--life will take us in other directions, ones we didn't want at the time and didn't expect and didn't plan for. But how we deal with that *is* how we "make" our life, really. :-)

BTW, there is a great quote I recall, by Annie Dillard (author): "How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives."

There also is a Chinese (?) proverb I really like: Bloom where you are planted.

It's utterly ridiculous how cursing is plastered ALL over tv. Seriously, there's a show called "Dance Your Ass Off". It's a weight loss show, but really?!? I mean, I have a fairly truck driver-ish mouth, from time to time, I blame that on bartending. LOL, I have toned down LOTS since Wren was born, but sometimes it slips. Have a happy day!

The thing is, your words may actually impact those young men's futures. We find teachers everywhere, all have an impact even if the effect isn't immediate. Good for you, somewhere, sometime, they will thank you in their heads.

I agree with Kim, the only things we can control are our actions and reactions to life as it happens to us...In every situation, we have to find the happiness, sometimes it is just there, but sometimes we have to look for the good in a bad situation....Love Kim's quotes and one of my favorites is="Every moment of life, whether in pain or joy, we all have the potential for grace realized."...Kisses to your sweet babies...xo...Calle, Halle, Sukki
