No experience with auctions at my end, either. You mean auction the house itself? One advantage I could see is that it would be sold faster. The disadvantage, I would guess, is that it could sell for a whole lot less than it's worth. Just speculating, but it seems you wouldn't have any say in how much you get at auction. Maybe you do?

Sorry, auctioning isn't a big thing in Canada, so can't give you any guidance, but wish you the best of luck whichever way you go.

Your boys are as cute and frisky as ever, it seems.

I don't know if you saw Smudge on the LOLSpot for World Cat Day.

TKmommy here-
I have no experience with auctioning. But it sounds like a risky venture in a buyer's market; on one-hand it is a guaranteed sale, but at what cost? I would caution you- don't assume that your realtor is your allie in this tranaction. A lot of the mid-level realtors are having a rough go of it and are looking to turn over houses, at any cost. For them, volume is key right now, your house is just another item on a long list of items to turn over for marginal profits.

On the other hand- you are likely to get the house of your dreams for a song, so flipping your house at bargin rates may not be a bad idea.

Do your homework, make sure you are covered- this is one of life's big decisions!

We don't really have much of an auction market around here - usually an auction is done when a house is taken by the bank for non-payment, but I haven't heard about them being used instead of a regular sale. I think I would be too nervous that I wouldn't get enough. I guess the closest thing that we have here are bidding wars. It is so interesting that buying and selling houses is so different everywhere.

I have no experience with house auction, although I think I would try to sale it first for a certain asking price and if nothing materializes after a while, then I would think about the auction=I'm thinking you just never know what you'll get in those things and it might be risky...I've found a great house, but it might already be sold; thinking strongly about having one built for me (it would take about 6 months), meeting with the builder again on Friday (saw the house yesterday with my parents=sound familiar?!)...My biggest worry, besides signing my life away financially :) is relocating Mommy Cat and Daddy Cat (I have already discussed it with the builder yesterday and I would get the garage with central air/heat because they would have to live in it for awhile=lots and lots of construction around this new neighborhood (big trucks and the new construction is drawing wildlife out and small dogs have been missing :(, so I wouldn't feel safe letting them roam like they do here for quite some time=they are 10 and spending more time then ever in my garage now as well)..They do not want to live in the house, they are much more comfortable in their own space without the noises and distractions of indoors...So much to think about and do when deciding on a move; I am in the moment with you, my friend!...hugs.

No experience with auctioning a house here either. Usually they are done for estates or foreclosures but we'd think if you set a minimum that you want, it could be a quick way to sell.

Boys, you are just so cute! Squeak the mouse doesn't get far from you does he?

Never done the auction thing. I don't really know how they work. I guess as long as there is a minimum you will allow then it will be ok. Hmmmmm .... Good luck!!!
