June update

Hello,

Yes I have been away from blogging for a bit but felt I needed a break. It's raining cats and dogs here, we have had 150mm since yesterday afternoon.
Just took Miranda and Boyd out for a quick run in between showers outside. They take turns on the lounge inside as its rare they are as settled as in photo below.

Spider and Smudge are well and this is when I caught them doing a bit of head patting before a major wrestle session.

This is a Tawny Frogmouth in a tree just near my verandah, often mistaken foir Owls they are actually members of the Nightjar family.
A rare settled shot of the dogs both inside.
Another rarity at the moment, sun!!!!!

So yes I have it warm and snug inside, due to a wood burning stove and am on a tidying spree inside and making lists for my brother to help me with when he comes over from Thailand.
His cat has Feline Leukemia, has anyone sucessfully treated a cat, particulary with natural remedies??? I have found some internet info but to hear from you guys would be well recieved.

It's nice to see an update! We're sure things have been very busy. And we hope there's no danger of flooding, because gees, 150 mm of rain in a day is torrential!

WOW! that's a lot of rain...time to build an ark...

We don't know anything about Feline leukemia; maybe if you posted the question on FB or on the CB somebody would know.

Thanks for commenting on homelesscatcare.blogspot.com
thanks for sharing about where the feral cat went!!!

Unfortunately, I don't have experience treating feline lukemia at all. I had a cat who contracted it as a kitten and it went into remission for 3 years. But not experience with treatments.

We are going through a FeLV scare here. There is a good article on the Best Friends site: http://www.bestfriends.org/theanimals/pdfs/cats/catfelv.pdf

Best we can tell you is that there is no cure but you can work with your vet to keep them healthy.

Tell your brother good luck...it can be scary, but not a death sentence. Just make sure to keep the cat inside since it is contagious.

I know of other cats that belong to friends that have lived long lives (one to 19) with FeLV. One cat was treated with heavy antibiotics but homeopathy does have good success in putting it in remission but a homeopathic doctor is needed to choose the right remedy and monitor the cat. Good luck!

Sorry to hear the news from the vet. Let's pray for a long remission with this and you will have many years of happiness.

Herman and Emma both have feline leukemia. There is no cure at present, but that may change soon. A cat can stay in remission for many years, or even go back into remission after a bad attack, as Herman has done. To keep a cat healthy, make sure he/she gets lots of food high in protein and fat. Lots of vets recommend having dry kitten food available. I will looks some stuff up and give you some more information.
